For June's Module Spotlight, we once again return to the Central New York Modelers layout and a module built by Bill Brown, MMR. The Coal Mine module was one of the first constructed by Bill for use with the club and is currently one of the oldest still on the circuit with the club. The module features a large coal mine complex constructed using several different kits. In addition a small town can be found on the right side of the module that sits by the edge of a lake. Vertical scenery is used for much the module and serves as the backdrop behind the mine. All the rocks were made from hydrocal. In order to maintain appearances in case of slight scratch and dents to the rockwork during transit, the group always brings extra paints along to make final touch ups on the module before the show begins. There is also a large sweeping curve that bows out towards the front of the module.-Modular Railroading Staff
