We here at Modular Railroading are constant builders and Jim just can't stop building modules. It has been a decade since he built his first module in 1996. Since then, over 100 modules, both personal and club, have been constructed in his workshop. To celebrate, this four footer was constructed. It was the 100th module built and represents a fictitious factory that manufactures...you guessed it - modules! There are lots of fun mini-scenes including workers on strike, a railfan park, and fishermen trying there best to find fish down by the railroad tracks.
The module benchwork was constructed using a grid system with birch plywood and foam insulation. The HO module uses Atlas Code 100 flex track and Peco Code 100 turnouts. The control panel is built into a drawer that opens to the back of the module. The legs are made from 1" aluminum tubing and fold up under the module when the module is taken down.
All of the factory buildings are kitbashed using parts from Walthers and Pikestuff kits. Scenery is pretty basic since most of the module is covered by track. The parking lot was made using Woodland Scenics
Smooth-It and ground cover is a variety of different products.-Modular
